The Acorn Team

Stuart Steel

Director

BSc (Hons) , University of Melbourne
Stuart began his working life as a neuroscientist, but switched to web design and development in 2001.  He started Acorn Web Studio in 2006, with the intention of taking the skills and processes used in building large web applications to the medium size business arena.

He believes in the four pillars of web development – a strategic approach, specialised copywriting, user-centred design and flexible, agile development.

After working as a specialist interface and prototype developer in a corporate environment he became convinced of the value of prototyping in web development – helping the client see ‘how it works’ very early in the process rather than at the conclusion.

He has delivered specialist interface design and development services to businesses and organisations like Amcor, Unisuper, The Federal Government of Australia, The State Government of Victoria as well as many other business and educational organisations.

Rikki Bochow

Production Manager / Designer / Developer

Diploma in Graphic Design
Rikki has a background in traditional art & print design though she favors the more structural world of web design, having grown up sitting on the computer in her father's cabinet-making business playing with AutoCAD.

She has acquired unique skills in web design, HTML, CSS and Javascript. Her focus is on providing user focused design with simple & clear communication, providing interactivity without compromising on usability. She thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to design and develop each project, creating more than just the layout but also the entire user experience & flow of each site.

Graduating top of her Graphic Design class Rikki was awarded "Star of the Show" for her Outstanding Achievement and Contribution, whilst also freelancing for a small design firm. She has always known the value of efficient workflow, but has a new found appreciation for processes & documentation since becoming production manager at Acorn.

Marin Sekesan

Designer / Developer

Diploma in Graphic Design
Marin has a background in traditional and printed media as well as audio production and has acquired unique skills in web design, HTML and CSS. He enjoys the creative aspects web design as well as user focused design with clear and effective communication and interactivity whilst also providing a compelling story for a taylored audience.

Usability is also paramount to Marin's design, as much as alignments, branding, and concept and should not be comprimised - after all what is a beautiful design if the site doesn’t work.
